Center for Resilience and Intelligence on Sustainable Energy Research

Center for Resilience and Intelligence on Sustainable Energy Research (RiSER) [Formerly Hierarchical Green-Energy Materials (Hi-GEM) Research Center]
Guided by the core principles of Sustainability, Resilience, and Intelligence, the Center focuses on two pivotal technological domains essential for the net-zero transition:
(1)Net-Zero Technologies (CCUS): e-Fuel and Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage.
(2)Energy Storage Technologies: Including solid-state batteries, high-safety battery cells, and AI-driven energy storage systems.

By integrating internal and external research excellence with resources from both industry and government, the Center serves as a pivotal hub for energy technology innovation and its practical implementation.

發展台灣自主的關鍵能源技術
Development of Taiwan's Independent Key Energy Technologies

Empowering Strategic Autonomy and Global Competitiveness

The Center is committed to developing indigenous and sustainable core energy technologies for Taiwan. Our research spans groundbreaking fields, including solid-state batteries, advanced energy storage systems, AI-driven process control, carbon capture, and net-zero fuels.

Through material innovation, process optimization, and cross-disciplinary integration, we bridge the gap between Proof of Concept (PoC) and commercial mass production. Our ultimate goal is to:
*Establish a competitive edge for Taiwan in the global energy transition race.
*Reduce dependence on foreign technologies.
*Strengthen national energy autonomy through home-grown innovation.

建立國家級淨零技術研發平台
Establishing a National-Level R&D Platform for Net-Zero Technology

A Scalable Hub Integrating Academia, Industry, and Government

The Center integrates cross-disciplinary experts and research teams from both within and outside the university. By synergizing industrial expertise with government resources, we have established a scalable and highly efficient R&D environment for net-zero technologies.

Our platform provides comprehensive support—from foundational research to technical validation—covering the entire R&D value chain, including:
*Cell Fabrication for Energy Storage
*CCUS Demonstration Chains
*Electrolysis and Catalytic Systems

Through this platform, the Center aims to become the pivotal engine for Taiwan’s net-zero innovation, accelerating the deployment and real-world implementation of critical technologies.

Strengthening the Security and Resilience of Taiwan's Energy Systems

Ensuring Reliable and Sustainable Energy Supply

In response to the challenges posed by extreme climate events, national energy security, and rapidly rising power demands, the Center leverages Smart Energy Storage and CCUS technologies to promote a more reliable and flexible energy infrastructure.

We contribute to national power grid stability and resilience through:
*AI-Driven Energy Dispatch: Optimizing storage distribution and grid response.
*Battery Safety Enhancements: Developing high-safety cell technologies to prevent system failures.
*Carbon Emission Management: Providing systematic solutions for carbon monitoring and reduction.

The Center actively collaborates with Taiwan Power Company (Taipower), industrial partners, and local governments to validate and deploy energy resilience technologies in real-world settings, ensuring a reliable and sustainable future for our energy supply.

促進國際學研合作
Promoting International Academic and Research Collaboration

Integrating Global Expertise to Enhance Technological Impact

The Center actively establishes deep partnerships with world-leading energy research institutions, academic organizations, and laboratories to introduce the latest global technologies and align with international trends.

We strengthen our influence within the global energy technology sector through:
*Joint Research Initiatives: Engaging in collaborative projects with top-tier global institutions.
*Technical Exchange & Training: Facilitating knowledge sharing and advanced talent cultivation.
*International Symposia: Hosting and participating in global forums to drive collaborative innovation.

This international cooperation network facilitates value-added technological development and cross-border innovation, significantly enhancing Taiwan’s visibility and competitiveness in the global race toward net-zero technology.
